Paid Lactation Breaks

I came across an interesting article in Brisbane’s Courier Mail yesterday. A university researcher Amanda Cooklin from the University of Melbourne has called for paid lactation breaks for breastfeeding mums to encourage them to breastfeed for at least six months.

I saw on the news last night that the Milk Bank at John Flynn hospital may have to close if it is unable to raise $21,000 for its new home, as the State Government is unable to guarantee funding for this wonderful service.

I stumbled across some interesting new research today, which found that pregnant and breastfeeding mums who eat cakes, takeways and biscuits could end up with fatter babies. Eating lots of these foods that are high in hydrogenated fats can also lead to heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
